Well today I had a lot more energy, however the jet lag is still riding my ass. We started the day with a cappucino, of course, as well as a ham and cheese crepe* ( Ricky bobby very thin pancakes) Then we walked to the Vatican down the street and met my uncle’s friend who was going to help us skip the line. My uncle knew the police cheif of the Vatican so we got in, in about five minutes as apposed to a couple hours. So that was a plus. We toured the Vatican museums which are like the American Smithsonian Museums. Basically all of the popes of the past stole historic things like sculptures and paintings and horded them for themselves. So we saw some really famous rooms/paintings/sculptures. I saw the “School of Athens” by Raphael and in the Sistine chapel of course the famous roof where michaelangelo painted on his back blah blah blah. Whatever it was cool. Although that, unlike most rooms they said no photos so Courtney did some belly shots with her camera and got one of “God touching Adam’s Hand” then we saw some more modern art including “The Thinker”, which turns out is like three feet tall so I look rather goof posing next to it as usual. Then we strolled into the basillica which by the way is freaking huge. I mean giant. From the front door to the stain glass of the dove in the back is 300 football fields long. Yeah. Pretty much every statue was gigantic. There we saw Michalangelo’s “Pieta” which is Mary holding Jesus in her arms pretty darn famous sculpture. It was so amazing every room was decorated, whether it was mosaics on the floor or paintings that covered the entire wall or the crazy carvings on the ceiling. So that was the Vatican, which I will be going to mass to tomorrow. Then we went to some resturaunt to found som resturaunt because our feet were tired and we were hungry. My parents ordered the house wine which was made by the resturant. Kinda cool. Then we strolled around some more. The streets here are like 6 feet wide all one way and all made of black cobblestone-ish looking stones. The cars here are all small so I you go to BC sorry I haven’t seen one damn pick up truck. Infact you could put a regualr car here in the back of a pick up truck with no problem. Or any car that i have seem in america with the exception to our three german companies in america Every car here is tiny. They can parrallel park faveing the street a in bumper to the curb, so then it would be called perpendicular parking not parallel. So every car is tiny and they are mostly fiat’s or bmw’s, VW’s or Mercedes. Or you drive a moped or motorcycle which aren’t lame over here. Italian people take their time too if you sit down to eat you are gonna be there at least an hour in a half and most places we Have been they have one waiter for like 10 tables. The city is weird it’s not very open at all when you get deep into the city it’s streets with shops every 8 feet that are tiny and people live up above. Pretty bizarre. We ate really dinner at some right off of some piazza which mean square I have figured out. Basically you have very skinny streets which are all one way an ocasionally you run into a piazza. People park where the hell they want and you have to be a crazy good driver if you want to drive here. There are some really attractive Italian women by the way so that’s a not a bad thing. Courtney says the same. It’s a shit lot different than America however the things we Seem to have on lock down are music, computers, and coca cola. I hear almost all American music, in the gelato shop on the way home the had Kanye’s work out tape playing, here at the same cafe I was at last night they were just playing “Melancholy Hill” by the gorillaz and pretty much everything else. I think gelato is italian yes, but it is like that thing that everyone comes to italy for and it seems that all of the “Gelati” shops pretty much target americans. All of the computers and tvs are American and you Can get coca cola products anywhere. Alot of things seem to be In English and everyone here speaks a little English, sometimes a lot. People aren’t as snobby as I a have heard they are in France. All of the bathrooms are unisex and the one In our apartment has both toilet paper and a bowl where you can wash you ass of which is freaking hilarious. When we stopped for dinner I got to have a glass of wine and the waiters assume when my dad orders wine, that it is for the whole table. Everything is way more relaxed her as far as the law goes, and it works there aren’t drunk assholes roaming around and car wrecks all day. There are a bunch of crazy soccer fans watching the world cup at bars and sidewalk cafe’s. My Italian still sucks, but I am learning, kinda. Katie I almost got sold into prostitution today but narrowly escaped. Italian people are pretty cool though. And the food is rockin. Currentlly sitting here with the girls and dad, having another cappuccino, just like this morning. I swear it’s like crack.Courtney is uploading more photos via the iPad which all of the Italians are mezmerized by because I don’t know of it has gone international yet so they are like WHHAATT!!!!!!!! hahaha. It’s pretty funny. Anyway chao. Haha.
